Week 16 NFL Totals: Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Tennessee Titans are walking a tightrope in the AFC South, trailing Houston by virtue of a poor divisional record. This game in Jacksonville is a great chance for the Titans to keep pace before next week’s finale vs. the Texans but the Jags have other plans.

Line: Titans -5 and O/U 44

Jacksonville fired coach Gus Bradley immediately following last week’s loss to the Texans. Doug Marrone takes over in his first head coaching gig since 2014 in Buffalo, when he was 9-7 with the Bills. One report suggested that the likeable Bradley’s fate was predetermined, even before the team’s night-straight loss in Houston. Marrone is a good candidate because of his experience and he’s been working with the Jaguars offense the past two years. That same offense that ranks 27th overall and 32nd in rushing.

At the other end of the spectrum are the Titans, led by Marcus Mariota and DeMarco Murray. Tennessee is averaging 145 rushing yards per game and 153 in the past three. The Titans are coming off a huge upset win at Arrowhead and will host the Texans next Sunday.

Tennessee is only 1-3 SU/ATS against the South this year and in a division where past champs have continuously padded their stats in doubleheaders against weaker foes, 1-3 is not good enough. They have a chance here to bury a punchless Jaguar team but this is also a good chance to setup for a strong finish, and it’s setting us up some nice value on the total.
