Virginia Tech HOKIES LOSES THIRD POTENTIAL STARTING DB THIS SUMMER

The Virginia Tech defense took another major hit on Monday when starting defensive back Mook Reynolds was dismissed from the team. Reynolds had been suspended from all team and football activities during the spring semester prior to the dismissal. This is a big hit to the Gobblers as Reynolds was fourth on the team in tackles with 70.5, 9.5 for a loss with 1.5 sacks.
This is the third significant loss to the Virginia Tech defensive backfield this off season. Adonis Alexander, who was projected to start at cornerback, was declared academically  ineligible and has since declared for the NFL supplemental draft. Juco Transfer Jeremy Webb Jr. was also projected to start or at least compete for a starting job at corner, tore his achilles tendon in spring practice and will miss the 2018 season.
That leaves HC Justin Fuentes and legendary DC Bud Foster with just four starters left from last year’s defense including all four players in the secondary. To make things worse, the Hokies have no linebackers that have ever taken a meaningful college football snap. The Virginia Tech defense finished second in the ACC allowing just 14.8 points=per-game.
