VIKES EXTEND WR STEFON DIGGS TO MONSTER FIVE-YEAR DEAL

The Minnesota Vikings hit pay dirt in 2015 by drafting a fifth-round wide out from Maryland in Stefon Diggs. After three ultra-productive years in his rookie deal, Stefon Diggs has hit pay dirt with a five-year $81 million dollar extension. The base deal is for $72 million over five years with $40 million guaranteed and a $15 million dollar signing bonus. The total money paid on the deal will be $81 million. Diggs average salary of $14.4 million ranks him 9th among wide receivers with Antonio Brown leading the way at $17 million.

Diggs made an impact immediately upon joining the Vikings with a rookie season where he racked up 720 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Diggs avoided any sophomore slump with a career high 920 yards in second year. In a break out year last year, Diggs had 64 catches for 849 yards and eight touchdowns. In the playoffs, Diggs caught the “Miracle in Minneapolis”, the Hail Mary that beat the Saints on the final play of the game.

Diggs joins a core group of Viking players that includes Kirk Cousins, Dalvin Cook, Adam Thielen, Eric Kendrick, Danielle Hunter, Harrison Smith, Everson Griffen, and Xavier Rhodes as players that are locked up for a Minnesota Super Bowl run through 2020.
