OHIO STATE HOPES TO HAVE URBAN MEYER SITUATION RESOLVED INSIDE 14 DAYS

Ohio State University has issued a statement announcing that it hoped to have the Urban Meyer investigation concluded in the next 14 days. Meyer is currently under administrative leave as the school investigates what Meyer knew or didn’t know regarding the domestic violence history of wide receiver coach Zach Smith. The Buckeyes fired Smith just before the Big Ten media day where Meyer told the press that he no prior knowledge of Smith’s disturbing past.

Ohio State outline “the process” of the investigation which includes “an independent working group” of high ranking school officials that form an investigative team that would go back as far as 2009 when Smith was a graduate assistant under Meyer at Florida. Smith is the oldest grandson of former Buckeye head coach Earle Bruce who was a mentor to Meyer at the beginning of his career. As a legacy, Smith’s time as an assistant under Meyer becomes that much more complicated.
