Levi’s Stadium

Spread (49ers by 5) –  Total (51)

If this ain’t an interesting match-up, the team at Jeff Allen Sports doesn’t know what is. The high flying, undefeated Philadelphia Eagles travel to the Bay area to take on the 1-2 San Francisco 49ers Sunday afternoon. Notice how we didn’t ascribe an adjective to the 49ers because, well, they haven’t really found their identity yet. Santa Clara, excuse us, San Francisco, hasn’t looked dominant one bit. And if it weren’t for Tony Romo being Tony Romo in the opening game of the season, the 49ers could be winless.

San Francisco hasn’t been able to hold a lead, Colin Kaepernick is turning the ball over and Jim Harbaugh is doing that weird thing with his face where he looks like he’s about to poop, smile and cry all at the same time. Mommy, make the TV stop showing the constipated man, make it stop!

The 49ers just haven’t been that good. They’re in the bottom half of the league in total offense. They’re in the bottom half of the league in points given up per game (22.7 ppg). And now there’s talk if coach Harbaugh is losing control of the locker room and that he might be headed back to the college football ranks to coach his alma-mater, Michigan.

Yet, despite all the distractions and ‘meh’ football, the Niners are 5-point home favorites this weekend against a Chip Kelly Philadelphia team that loves to put points up on the board. The Eagles haven’t scored less than 30 points this season. Interestingly, San Francisco hasn’t given up more than 28 points so far this season.

Against the spread, the 49ers are just 1-2 ATS this year and are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games at home. The Eagles meanwhile, are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games on the road.

The total is currently listed at 50.5 and it will be key for each team to show they can play a little defense. The 49ers haven’t been terrible defensively, but will need to be a lot better to slow down the Eagles offense that is second in the league in passing and scoring (33.7 ppg).

Concerning the total, San Francisco has had a tendency to play in lower scoring games than expected (5-1 Under in their last 6 games), while the Eagles have had a tendency to play in higher scoring games than expected (6-2 Over in their last 8 contests).
