As the 2013 season takes way, the NHL is anything but short of excitement this year. This Friday get ready to see sparks fly as the NHL has many match-ups worthy of a main event fight. Let’s Get Ready to Rumble!

Boston 8-1-2 (4-0-1 V) at Buffalo 5-8-1 (2-3-1 H)

Boston will attempt to prove that they are a serious contender for the title as they face Buffalo this week. Led by David Krejci, Tyler Seguin, and Zdeno Chara, Boston is sitting on the top of the Northeast division. The team is averaging 2.7 goals, 2.2 goals against and has a 6-5 Under record. On the opposite side of the spectrum, Buffalo holds the title of last place in the Northeast division. Holding an 8-6 Over record, Buffalo will be led by Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville. In their previous two meetings, they have split the record of 1-1, with Buffalo dominating the first meeting 7-4 and Boston handling Buffalo the second game 3-1. The Bruins are expected to come out swinging from the gates, as they will try to demonstrate their consistency.

Evander Kane and the Jets eagerly await the rematch as they plan to defend their title by beating the Penguins once again. Pittsburg is currently ranked 2nd in the Atlantic division, following the fierce New Jersey Devils. The Penguins, who hold an 8-6 Over record, will be led by fan favorites, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. As the fans wait in anticipation, Pittsburg will seek revenge against the Jets as they skate for the win.

Fighting out of Dallas, the Stars will be facing the Vancouver Canucks as their matchup this week. This year, the Stars have been led by their veteran pick-up Jaromir Jagr and Jamie Benn. Winning their last four games out of five, they have not finished a game without a total score of at least five goals. Kari Lehtonen has been playing outstanding, as he has helped in creating a 7-3 record,when he is between the pipes. With six straight wins, the Vancouver Canucks have been on a hot streak with the assistance of the Sedin brothers. Vancouver has had a goaltending issue and has been rotating goaltenders between Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider. Luongo has started the last five out of seven games and might be the key for the recent Vancouver success.

New Jersey hopes to carry the top spot in the Atlantic division as they face Philadelphia in this weeks matchup. The Devils are being led by Ilya Kovalchuk, Patrik Elias and senior leader Martin Brodeur. This year the Devils have only allowed 2.1 goals against, bringing their record against the total to 8-5 Under. The opposite corner holds the Philadelphia Flyers, who have not been flying too high. With a slow start to the season, Claude Giroux, Wayne Simmonds, and Daniel Briere will need to release their knockout power against the red hot Devils. The Devils hold an 8-5-1 Under record, as their goal keeping, led by Ilya Bryzgalov, is the only entity keeping the Flyers up.

The Chicago Blackhawks are unbeaten in regular play this year and have created high expectations for themselves as they hope to hold on to their undefeated standing. In hopes of reaping their title, the blood hungry Sharks seek to feast on the flesh of these dominating Blackhawks. Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, and Marian Hossa lead the Blackhawk hunting party, as Corey Crawford protects the fort. Chicago is averaging 3.3 goals a game while allowing only 1.9 against. San Jose will be seeking revenge from the beating they took at home on the 5th with a score of 5-3. After starting the season in a flawless manner, the Sharks have lost their last six games and will need to exhaust great efforts from Patrick Marleau, Ryane Clowne, Joe Thorton, and Brad Stuart if they expect to climb back.
